Large numbers of Dutch balloons arrived on the coasts of Normandy. France in early May 2007, following celebration of Queensday in the Netherlands on 30 April. More than 10 balloons per km were found during surveys of the Groupe Ornithologique Normand (GONm)! Balloons may threaten marine wildlife because animals become entangled in the ribbon or may ingest balloons.
